Little Women

This production is dedicated to all who have served and are serving in the military, including my uncle who served in the Korean War. Like many soldiers through the years, Uncle Charles, you fought for your country, loved your family, and lived for God. Part of you is still with us who love you and have been influenced by you. I look forward to seeing you again when I too make it home at last.

Director:  Elizabeth Phillips
Assistant Directors:  Susan Lastra, Mike Humphries
Show dates 2006: November 2-5, 9-12, HOLDOVER 17-19

Like most people, I have grown up hearing the story of Little Women. Being deeply involved in the details, however, can bring a new perspective of this story. What struck me the most was the pervading “absent presence” of a beloved father and how this influenced the characters’ words and actions every day. These noble characters drew strength from love, honor and friendship as they faced difficult times. What a wonderful experience to see these traits mirrored in the lives of such an aMAZing cast and crew! I have enjoyed getting to know each one of you more. You have made this first venture into directing, one I will cherish always. To Mike Humphries and Susan Lastra, thank you for the many hats you have worn on and off stage – well done! Special thanks to Mike DiPardo who repeatedly “made it so” whenever I asked for something to be built. You and MB McNeil worked far beyond the call of duty for this show and the entire theatre. I could not have done this show without you. Thank you to ALL who helped in the transformation of the theatre. Your hard work has made a tremendous difference!

We are always interested in hearing from people in the community who enjoy being on stage or have a desire to "get their feet wet" in acting. We are also looking for pianists and other musicians for future musical productions. If you don’t want to act on stage but want to be involved, come to a general membership meeting every third Monday at 7pm or watch for audition dates for upcoming shows so that you can speak with the director. Behind the scenes personnel are a definite need especially with a large cast. Please call us at (352)493-ARTS or email us at SVPlayers@aol.com if you are interested.
