Members of the Board
Elizabeth
Phillips, President
Elizabeth has served as photographer and keeper of the
show archives for several
years as well as Secretary and Board member. She enjoys music, song writing,
creative writing, graphic arts, photography, and traveling to new places. She
debuted with SVP in The Sound of Music
in 1989 and has enjoyed being involved in several shows including her
favorite productions Godspell and
Fiddler on the Roof.
Since then she has ventured into administrative matters of assistant/music
director with Godspell
and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,
and even a directorial debut last season with
Little Women.
Marjorie Phillips,
Vice President
Marjorie frequently is content to work behind the scenes
as long as it's not backstage. She enjoys lending a hand wherever needed and
cheering the actors on. She previously served on the Board, and we are glad to
have her with us in this office. She keeps busy, now that she is retired. She
enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with her grandchildren, and
directing choir at Bronson United Methodist Church.
Susan Lastra,
Secretary
Susan began backstage in
Godspell and little did she know how much that
small step would lead to many appearances on stage. She demonstrated her
versatility as actor and assistant director portraying Aunt March in Little Women
and catching many laughs with her role as Winifred in
Once Upon a Mattress.
She also played major roles in The Nerd
and Chalk Garden
and brought her entire family into ours. She is now
a bona fide producer and director with the summer production Acting UP!
Mike
Humphries, Treasurer
Mike was "instrumental" in forming a band to make
Godspell an
inspiring musical production, and was persuaded to venture on stage in
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
Since then, he has found a home onstage, appearing as Axel in
The Nerd and King
Sextimus the Silent in Once Upon a Mattress.
He stepped up to assist with Little Women
and to direct Woolfie
as part of the summer production Acting UP!
Frank
Lastra, Board Member
Frank is manager at Gainesville Publix Deli who made his
debut as Pap in
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.
He has found quite an audience with his roles as Rick Steadman in
The Nerd and Prince
Dauntless in Once Upon a Mattress
(playing opposite his wife).
Linda Hagan, Board Member
Linda is a long-time veteran with SVP and a welcome
returning member. She has been involved in too many shows to count and has
served on various board positions including President in past years. She
directed Not a Creature Was Stirring, The Butler Did It. She
is directing the upcoming children's summer show Treasure Island.
Louise Perras, Board Member
Louise frequents the backstage area as stage manager. It just wouldn't be a
show without Louise behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly and
is in its proper place. With no desire to be in front of the curtain, she has
made her mark as stage manager for The Odd Couple,
The Hobbit,
The
Secret
Garden, The Wizard of Oz,
Harvey and
Charley's Aunt to name a few.
